Warning Signs

Warning signs are essential for keeping staff safe on site, helping them avoid hazards that could lead to accidents, and incidents in the workplace. The Health and Safety Executive requires a number of different signs to be displayed around all manner of different potential problems whether they take place on your site, on an external site where your staff work, on the roads when relating to business vehicles, and more. Whatever the hazard, there is a sign for it that gives a clear message to anyone in the vicinity that they should avoid the area or approach with care.

These warning signs are often yellow triangles with black outlines. Many feature exclamation marks to illustrate that you must take notice of the warning. They usually contain text underneath that explains the hazard. One example of these warning signs states “Beware of moving vehicles”.

There are also yellow warning signs to show that there is a fragile roof, with an illustration of a figure falling through the roof of a building. Others warn of fork lift trucks in operation, using the outline of one of these vehicles to illustrate the warning. In addition, other warning signs let people know that there is a warning of electrical hazards, slippery surfaces, sudden drops, people working overhead, and more.

For those who drive for work, it is a good idea to carry a red, reflective warning triangle to place down the road if you break down. This alerts other drivers to an upcoming hazard and allows them to slow down and change lanes if necessary.

You can create your own custom warning signs if there is not a current available option that meets your needs. Whatever the hazards on your site are, this is the best way to keep everyone safe and well during the working day.
