XAMAX® Clothing Company Ltd recognises that it has a responsibility to consider and reduce, where reasonably practicable, the environmental impact of its business activities. We aim to operate responsibly, comply with applicable environmental requirements, and make practical improvements across our operations, procurement, packaging, waste, transport and energy use.

XAMAX® does not manufacture the products it sells. We source workwear, work uniforms, PPE, safety footwear and promotional clothing from supplier brands, distributors and manufacturers. This means our direct environmental control is strongest in our own operations, packaging choices, waste handling, transport decisions and procurement standards, while our influence over manufacturing impacts is exercised through supplier selection, supplier engagement and responsible product information.

1) Key environmental impacts

XAMAX® recognises its key environmental impacts to include:

1. Energy use in offices, warehousing, production areas, systems and website operations.
2. Use of raw materials, garments, packaging, consumables and decoration materials.
3. Waste generated from packaging, returned goods, damaged goods, samples, print and embroidery processes, and general business operations.
4. Emissions associated with delivery, supplier transport, business travel and courier services.
5. Water use in business premises and product-care considerations communicated to customers.
6. Procurement choices, including supplier selection, product ranges, packaging and business services.
7. Environmental claims made about products, suppliers, materials or business practices.

2) Legal and regulatory compliance

XAMAX® aims to comply with applicable environmental legislation, regulations, guidance and business obligations relevant to its operations. This may include obligations relating to waste handling, packaging, storage, transport, product information, health and safety, procurement and environmental claims.

Where packaging obligations apply, XAMAX® will take reasonable steps to understand and meet relevant requirements, including any applicable data collection, reporting, recycling or producer responsibility obligations.

3) Waste, packaging and resource use

XAMAX® aims to reduce unnecessary waste and use materials carefully. Practical steps may include:

1. Reducing avoidable packaging where this does not compromise product protection, delivery quality or safety.
2. Reusing or recycling packaging and materials where practical and appropriate.
3. Separating waste streams where local services and business processes allow.
4. Reducing paper use through digital order management, online communication and electronic records where suitable.
5. Managing print, embroidery and decoration consumables responsibly.
6. Reducing avoidable rework by improving artwork checks, order confirmation processes and customer approval steps.
7. Reviewing how returned, faulty, obsolete or damaged products are handled, reused, recycled or disposed of.

4) Energy and water use

XAMAX® aims to use energy and water efficiently in its day-to-day operations. Practical measures may include:

1. Encouraging responsible use of lighting, heating, cooling, equipment and IT systems.
2. Reviewing equipment and operational processes where energy savings may be possible.
3. Reducing unnecessary energy use during non-operational hours where practical.
4. Monitoring water use and encouraging sensible water management in business premises.
5. Considering environmental impact when making investment decisions about equipment, premises and systems where appropriate.

5) Procurement and supplier engagement

XAMAX® aims to include environmental and ethical considerations in procurement decisions where practical and commercially reasonable. This may include considering:

1. Supplier environmental policies, ethical trading policies and sustainability information.
2. Product durability, intended use and suitability for the customer’s working environment.
3. Availability of recycled, lower-impact, responsibly sourced or certified materials where supported by supplier evidence.
4. Packaging type, packaging volume, recyclability and supplier delivery methods.
5. Supplier willingness to provide clear, accurate and substantiated environmental information.
6. Opportunities to reduce unnecessary product replacement through better product selection and customer guidance.

XAMAX® will avoid describing a product, supplier or material as environmentally beneficial unless the claim is clear, specific and supported by appropriate evidence.

6) Transport and delivery

Transport is a relevant environmental impact for XAMAX® because products are sourced from suppliers and delivered to customers. XAMAX® aims to reduce avoidable transport impact where reasonably practicable by:

1. Consolidating supplier orders where this is commercially and operationally practical.
2. Using appropriate courier, pallet or collection methods based on order size and destination.
3. Offering customer collection from the Wakefield trade counter where suitable.
4. Reducing avoidable returns through clearer product information, sizing guidance and order checks.
5. Reviewing delivery processes where improved efficiency is possible.

7) Environmental claims and product information

XAMAX® aims to provide environmental information that is accurate, clear, proportionate and not misleading. Environmental claims should be specific and supported by evidence, particularly where they relate to recycled content, organic materials, responsible sourcing, certifications, lower-impact processes, packaging, durability or disposal.

XAMAX® will avoid vague or absolute claims such as “green”, “eco-friendly” or “sustainable” unless the basis of the claim is made clear and can be substantiated. Where environmental information is provided by supplier brands or manufacturers, XAMAX® may rely on that supplier information but will aim to present it carefully and without overstating its meaning.

8) Employee awareness and involvement

XAMAX® aims to encourage employee awareness of good environmental practice. This may include guidance on waste reduction, energy use, packaging, recycling, responsible procurement, product information and operational improvements.

Employees are encouraged to identify practical opportunities to reduce waste, avoid unnecessary resource use, improve processes and raise environmental concerns or suggestions with management.

9) Environmental risk management

XAMAX® aims to reduce environmental, health and safety risks associated with its operations. This includes considering the storage, handling and disposal of materials used in business operations, decoration processes and general premises management.

Where environmental risks are identified, XAMAX® will assess the issue and take proportionate action based on the nature of the risk, legal requirements, operational practicality and available alternatives.

10) Review and improvement

XAMAX® will periodically review this policy and its environmental performance. Reviews may consider waste, energy use, packaging, procurement, supplier information, product claims, transport, employee awareness and opportunities for improvement.

Environmental improvement is an ongoing process. XAMAX® will aim to make practical and proportionate improvements where it has control or influence, while being transparent about the limits of that control within wider product manufacturing and global supply chains.
