XAMAX® Clothing Company Ltd is committed to acting ethically, responsibly and with integrity in its business relationships. We do not tolerate modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, child labour exploitation or other forms of labour abuse in our own business or supply chain.

This policy sets out the steps XAMAX® takes to understand, reduce and respond to the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supplier relationships. It should be read alongside our Ethical Trading Policy and other relevant company policies.

1) Our business

XAMAX® Clothing Company Ltd is a UK-based, family-owned business supplying workwear, work uniforms, PPE, safety footwear and promotional clothing to business customers. We sell through our ecommerce website, by phone, by email and through our Wakefield trade counter.

XAMAX® does not manufacture the products it sells. We source products from a wide range of supplier brands, distributors and manufacturers, and we provide garment decoration services such as embroidery and print where suitable.

2) Our supply chain

Our supply chain includes brands and suppliers from whom we source industrial workwear, corporate clothing, promotional clothing, personal protective equipment and safety footwear. These products are supplied to businesses across a range of sectors to support workplace safety, staff uniform, logo application and brand presentation.

We recognise that apparel, textiles, footwear, PPE and global manufacturing supply chains can carry labour-rights risks. These risks may be higher where there are complex subcontracting arrangements, migrant labour, temporary labour, low visibility beyond tier-one suppliers, pressure on production timelines, or manufacturing in regions where labour enforcement may be weaker.

XAMAX® is not expected to guarantee that every part of every extended supply chain is free from risk. However, we are responsible for taking reasonable and proportionate steps to identify, reduce and respond to modern slavery risks in the areas where we have influence.

3) Policy commitment

XAMAX® has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We expect our employees, suppliers and business partners to act ethically, comply with applicable labour laws and avoid any practice that may involve exploitation, coercion, forced labour or abuse.

We expect our suppliers to demonstrate that they use labour ethically and within the law. Where a supplier cannot demonstrate appropriate standards, or where serious concerns are not addressed, XAMAX® may suspend purchasing, request corrective action, or end the business relationship.

4) Supplier expectations

XAMAX® expects suppliers and supplier brands to:

1. Comply with all applicable laws relating to employment, wages, working hours, health and safety, equality, forced labour, child labour, human trafficking and worker welfare.
2. Take steps to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in their own operations and supply chains.
3. Provide ethical trading statements, modern slavery statements, codes of conduct, audit summaries or equivalent assurance where requested and available.
4. Engage with recognised ethical trade initiatives, accreditation schemes or audit frameworks where appropriate, such as Sedex, WRAP or Fair Wear.
5. Be transparent with XAMAX® where a modern slavery or labour-rights concern is identified.
6. Take corrective action where concerns are raised or non-compliance is identified.

5) Due diligence and supply chain management

XAMAX® uses proportionate due diligence processes to help identify and reduce modern slavery risks in supplier relationships. These processes may include:

1. Reviewing existing supplier policies on modern slavery, ethical trading and labour standards as part of ongoing supplier relationships.
2. Requesting official ethical trading statements, modern slavery statements or equivalent documentation from supplier brands where relevant.
3. Favouring suppliers that can demonstrate engagement with recognised ethical trade initiatives, accreditation schemes or audit frameworks.
4. Reviewing supplier communication, transparency and willingness to provide information about their own supply chains.
5. Assessing concerns or non-compliance on a case-by-case basis and requesting appropriate corrective action where required.
6. Escalating serious concerns internally before continuing, changing or ending a supplier relationship.

Because XAMAX® is not a manufacturer, we place significant reliance on supplier brands and distributors to manage their own operations and supply chains responsibly. However, reliance on supplier assurance does not remove the need for XAMAX® to remain alert to risk and to ask appropriate questions where concerns arise.

6) Risk assessment and management

XAMAX® considers modern slavery risk when reviewing supplier relationships, product categories and supply chain information. Risk may be considered higher where products involve complex international supply chains, labour-intensive production, subcontracted manufacturing, limited supply chain transparency, or suppliers unable to provide credible ethical trading information.

Where a potential risk or concern is identified, XAMAX® may take one or more of the following steps:

1. Request further information from the supplier.
2. Request relevant policies, statements, audit information or corrective action plans.
3. Escalate the matter internally for management review.
4. Pause or reduce purchasing while the concern is assessed.
5. Work with the supplier to understand and monitor corrective action where appropriate.
6. End the supplier relationship where concerns are serious, unresolved or incompatible with XAMAX® values and responsibilities.

7) Reporting concerns

XAMAX® encourages employees, suppliers, customers and business partners to report any concern relating to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour exploitation or unethical labour practices in our business or supply chain.

Concerns can be reported to XAMAX® using the details on the Contact Us page. Reports will be handled sensitively and escalated to appropriate management for review.

If a person is in immediate danger, or if there is an emergency, the appropriate emergency services should be contacted. Where there is a safeguarding or criminal concern, XAMAX® may also report the matter to relevant authorities where appropriate.

8) Awareness and training

XAMAX® aims to make relevant employees aware of modern slavery and human trafficking risks, particularly employees involved in procurement, supplier relationships, product sourcing, customer service and management.

Training and awareness may include internal guidance, discussion of supplier expectations, escalation routes for concerns, and review of modern slavery risk as part of supplier and ethical trading discussions.

9) Measuring effectiveness

XAMAX® monitors the effectiveness of its approach through practical indicators that are proportionate to the size and nature of the business. These may include:

1. Supplier ethical trading statements requested and received.
2. Supplier policies reviewed.
3. Supplier concerns raised, investigated and resolved.
4. Supplier relationships paused or ended because of ethical or compliance concerns.
5. Relevant staff awareness or training activity.
6. Policy review and updates.

10) Review and responsibility

Responsibility for this policy sits with XAMAX® management. The policy should be reviewed periodically and updated where appropriate to reflect changes in the business, supply chain, legal requirements, guidance or identified risks.

Where XAMAX® is legally required to publish an annual modern slavery statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, the statement should be approved and signed in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.
