Further Information on Briefcases

A briefcase is ideal for carrying documents, files, laptops computers, tablets, and anything else you need for the work day.

There are a few different types of briefcase on the market, with a portfolio providing a sturdy and compact method of transporting a small number of documents, held under the arm and without a handle. A folio is like a portfolio, but with a retractable handle, whilst an attache case is a thinner version of the traditional briefcase.

A briefcase, in the most recognised sense, is a hard shell box with a handle. It features two compartments connected by a hinge and closes with a lock. This can be opened with either a key or by inputting the correct combination. Briefcases tend to be covered in leather or made out of a light metal such as aluminium.

Inside the briefcase, you will usually find different compartments for separating out documents into different areas. For example, anything that relates to a certain project goes in one area, with all papers relating to another being stored in a different section. There are often small pockets and holders for stationery, such as pens and pencils, to make it easy to transport these items without them flying around the case.

You might also find a pocket for a laptop or tablet in your briefcase and for chargers and MP3 players too. This classic piece of design is always developing for the modern world, whilst maintaining the charm of the bag that has been a mainstay of business for decades.
